A note on ORANI-G

ORANI was developed in the 1970s under Australia’s IMPACT project and is widely used in academic, government, and industry policy analysis. ORANI-G is a standard teaching and starting model, applied in South Africa, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Pakistan, Denmark, China, and Fiji, among others.

A note on ORANI-G

ORANI began as a static, comparative-static model; later ORANI-F and MONASH added stock–flow relations for capital and investment and for foreign liabilities and the trade deficit, together with government accounts and regional disaggregation.

ORANI-G has the canonical static CGE structure: producer demands for intermediates and primary factors, commodity supply, investment demand, household and government demand, export demand, the link from basic to purchaser prices, market clearing, and macro identities and price indices. Agents are price-takers; producers earn zero pure profits.
