International Trade
We work on several issues in international trade policy, focusing on their impacts on GDP, employment, import & export, final expenditure, investment & saving, etc. Following are some examples of issues we have focused on:
(a) Changes in Tax. Tariff, production tax, consumption tax
(b) Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs). Using some econometric (gravity) and other methods to estimate tariff equivalent, subsidy equivalent, trade restrictiveness index, for the NTBs for specific purposes and then introducing them into CGE models. We often divide the NTBs into two parts: goods NTBs and service NTBs.
(c) Foreign direct investment. As an in house-developed CGE model, GTAP-FDI is frequently used in European Union, Canada, Singapore consulting projects. We also provide the corresponding datasets and relevant programs.
(d) Rules of origin. The ROOs is evaluated as the tariff equivalent, and then introduced into CGE model.
